Lightbulb what is fine art

to start this thread with something reasonable

Dear artists/experts, how do u classify the fine art in levels, are there any more or less reasonable gradations for low level art and high level art.

thanks
fiametta

Default or voting

here is second question:

how does public voting reflect the level of art?

not irrelevant is the history of van Gogh, who sold only one painting during his life. (or not at all ?)

Default good one

ye
curious to know what one does with all the voting results on the collective art/prints/photos catalogs,
as they may be of very little value to the comunity.

Thumbs down

I'm not sure. With todays art, it has expanded to include all directions in expressions. Personally, Fine art is just what it says "Fine"art. well done, creative, not sloppey. Unfortunatly non artists have created a mess with all kinds of garbage and promoters have lowered the level of fine art for $$$. Drip painters, block painters etc. and throw it on the canvas painters are "painters" , not Artists.

Smile Fine art in my life

My father worked under Diego Rivera in Mexico City and was friends with another artist Zuniga. As a child, I did not have the caring nor knowledge of who those men were. My father came to this country and ended up working in a shipyard painting bottoms of ships. He would tell me his life stories and still I couldn't be bothered.
My oldest son Chris took up the brush about 5 years ago and has amazed me ever since. Even being his father, I can say he has talent. Please tell me how I can get his art out for others to see. He was accepted the San Francisco Institute of Art recently, so someone knows he has the gift. And that's what it is! Check his work out at christopherguerra.com Tell him what you think at .........countguerra@yahoo.com.......... Hey, I can't make up for my indifference in the past but I will support his gift till my last breath

I think "fine art" has to do with both the quality of the product and the role it plays with the public, or with its recipients/viewers.
